HIS LIFE AS WE REMEMBER

We thought of you with love today, But that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, And the days before that, too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. Now all we have is memories, And your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, With which we'll never part. God has you in His Keeping. We have you in our Heart.

HIS LIFE AS WE REMEMBER

On March 17th, 1933 Patrick Anthony Lotta was born to Carmella & Vincent Lotta in Rochester, New York.

He had four brothers: Donald Lotta, Tony Lotta, Vincent Lotta, & Bobby Lotta.  He also had three sisters: Francis Lotta, Carmella Lotta, & Theresa Lotta.

Patrick grew up going to Catholic School where he graduated from in 1951.

Patrick attended Cornell University for approximately 2 years from 1951 to 1953.  He was studying to be a veterinarian.

Patrick left college in 1953 to start his trade in the construction industry with his brother Tony.  He continued in his trade for the rest of his years.

Patrick has a son John Lotta, and a daughter Marie Lotta from the marriage to his first wife GiGi.

In 1975 Patrick met Rita and they began dating. Rita has 2 daughters, Deanna & Tracy, that Patrick took on as his own and legally adopted them in 1983.  In January 1978 Patrick & Rita had a son that they named Patrick.

During the time he did construction, he worked on many big projects like the Johnstown Pennsylvania flood in 1977, the West Virginia Flood where he worked with HUD to move trailers, the flood in Greensborough North Carolina, as well as others.  While Patrick was gone for months at a time to work on these floods, Rita would go to wherever he was to spend some time with him.

As a hobby Patrick raced in stock car races.

Patrick also owned a music store in Rochester, New York called "Music World" from approximatley 1975 to 1978.

After his many years in Rochester, Patrick decided to look for work in another state.  He found work in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Patrick moved his family to Las Vegas in October 1978.  His son John & his family moved to Vegas also.  Patrick & John continued their trade in construction.

In between his work as a contractor, Patrick also worked for the North Las Vegas Township as a Deputy Constable from approximately 1980 to 1990.

He also became a bodygaurd for Governer Richard Bryan.  Patrick would accompany the Governer to special events such as The Governers Ball, boxing matches, and wrestling matches.  Patrick did this on occasion from approximately 1983 to 1990.

Another big accomplishment Patrick did was some construction to the MGM Hotel & Casino in 1980.  It was the second worst hotel fire in history.

Throughout the years Patrick was always a family man.  He enjoyed vacations with his family that he took them on quite often. He would take them to places like Niagra Falls, New York, Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland, his best friends ranch in California, and Mexico.

Patrick was involved with many sports for his children.  He coached Bobby Sox Softball with his girls Tracy & Deanna.

When little Patrick was old enough to play football, Patrick got involved.  He was behind his son 100% from the age 5 to the age of 16 while his son played football.  He coached for Pop Warner Football.

Patrick also did coaching for soccer when his grandson's Jake & Anthony and his grandaughter Ashley played.  He coached soccer for approximately 5 years.

Patrick worked very hard in his life to provide for his family.  He was still going very strong at the age of 74 years old.  He still provided for his wife and family.  Around August of 2007 he got some work out in California for a law office and a friend of his.  He frequently traveled to and from California staying weeks at a time then returning home to be with his family.

On Super Bowl weekend in 2008 Patrick returned home to his family.  We had our Sunday dinner (as we have always done, it was a tradition of ours to have spaghetti and meatballs every Sunday) and we watched the Super Bowl. On Tuesday February 5th, 2008 very early in the morning Patrick headed back to California to finish his work.  All morning Rita was trying to call him and there was no answer.  She felt there was something wrong.  Around 10:00 am there was a knock on Rita's door.  It was a woman from the Las Vegas Sheriffs Office.  Rita knew as soon as she opened the door what the woman was there for.  That morning we found out that Patrick was killed in a car accident on the I-15 southbound just before Baker, California.  This devistated all of us.  He was rear ended by a young kid at 5:10 am who was driving at least 107 mph.  Patrick lost control of the vehicle and it rolled throwing him from the vehicle.  Patrick died in seconds from the impact.  He died a tragic and horrific death.

It has been a year since this horrific tragedy and we all still truly and deeply miss him.  At times it kind of feels as though he is still in California working and will return home to be with his family.  The pain cuts through us like a knife.

He now rests in a better place where there is no pain, no work, and no stupidity from this society.

Patrick has 16 Grandchildren:

From son John: Heather, Shannon, & Amber

From daughter Marie: Robert & MJ

From daughter Deanna: Jake & Jazmine

From daughter Tracy: Ashley, Jenna, & Madison

From son Patrick: Kelsey, Anthony, Jordan, Alycia, Lauren, & Larissa

Patrick has 7 Great Grandchildren:

From grandaughter Heather: Bryanna & Kaelynn

From grandaughter Shannon: Vernon, Keshawn, Iyonna, & Amari

From grandaughter Amber: Little Marcus

MAY GOD REST HIS SOUL AND MAY HE ALWAYS BE THERE FOR US NO MATTER HOW FAR AWAY HE IS.

R.I.P.

PATRICK A. LOTTA

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took his hand when I heard his call.
I turned back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found the peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys---
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee---
God wanted me now, he set me free.
